The journey has begun...

My new life as a 'sewer' has begun. Today I visited Spotlight and bought a Burda Starter pattern for some cute little pants and a dress/top for Coco. I bought enough fabric to make 2 'sets' of the pants and top. One is a red denim top with a white and red broderie anglaise for the pants, the other is a navy denim for the pants and a patterned pink florally cotton blend for the dress/top (I am suspicious that it is the same fabric that many of the sewing ladies seem to comment that they all have).
I also enrolled in a dressmaking course as a way to refresh my skills in zippers, button holes and other fiddly bits. I couldn't get into a Saturday course so have booked for Thursday evenings beginning in 2 weeks.
My best friend and I did some Op-shopping in and around Hawthorn, Camberwell and Kew. I was disappointed not to find any fabric but I did pick up one little girls' pattern for some cute overall, a dress and a top with a nice cross-over back (similar to the one Jacqui has in her online shop).

Hello and welcome to my blog

I have decided to follow the lead of the lovely EB Sewing Group ladies and have created a blog in preparation of my foray into the wonderful world of sewing.

Tomorrow I will hit the shops for some fabric and basic patterns for some baby clothes for my wee girl Coco.

After work this afternoon I did a bit of 'Thrift Store Shopping' and while I had no luck finding fabrics I did manage to purchase 8 Women's Weekly 'Handmade' magazines as well as a Burda pattern for a toddlers' tracksuit.

I have also been searching for inspiration on the 'net and have saved a few sites to my favourites which have pics of clothes in the styles I would like to make.
